The Fabulous Sweetnesses

The Fabulous Sweetnesses is a social partner dance originating in The Confederacy of Abbeys. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Berry of Sweetness. The dancers perform in a double circle along an improvised path, moving quickly with the music. The partners rarely make contact, communicating intent through visual cues. This dance is a refined artform, with two special positions to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by soft hand gestures and the jerking body level changes of the follower.

• The dance begins with the theme of the music. This section is punctuated by jerking clockwise eighth turns and twisting independent body movement.
• The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the theme of the music. This strong grotesque section is punctuated by raised right arms.
• The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. This graceful section is punctuated by serene straight walks.
• The dance enters a new section with the recapitulation of the theme of the music. This section is punctuated by aborted moves.
• The itlud is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a calm facial expression from the follower.
