The Wondrous Butterfly
The Wondrous Butterfly is a solo performance dance which grew out of the performances of The Waning Spirits. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Amethyst of Verse. The dancer performs slower and slower to the music's ushav rhythm. This dance is a refined artform, with three special positions to be mastered. The dance is calm.
- The dance begins with the introduction of the music. This section is weightless.
- The dance enters a new section with the verse of the music. The dancer performs along an improvised path. This understated section is punctuated by leaps.
- The dance enters a new section with the chorus of the music. This section is punctuated by delicate raised arms.
- The dance enters a new section with the bridge-passage of the music. This graceful section is punctuated by relaxed independent body movement.
- The dance enters a new section with the next chorus of the music. This section is punctuated by right leg lifts.
- The dance enters a new section with the next verse of the music. This subtle section is punctuated by partially realized moves.
- The nithros is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a strong leftward bend with a graceful hand gesture and a high arm carriage.
