The Bewildering Wonder
The Bewildering Wonder is a sacred group dance originating in The Confederacy of Fur. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Glittery Silkinesses. The dancers perform in several lines, moving slower and slower with the music. This dance is a refined artform, with twelve specific moves to be mastered. The dance is straight-lined and refined.
- The dance begins with the passage of the music. This section is punctuated by clockwise quarter turns and body level changes.
- The dance enters a new section with the next passage of the music. This section is punctuated by lively footwork, with movement performed in succession by group members.
- The noloc is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a repeated right kick with a spin, a powerful hand gesture and independent body movement.
- The kes is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is an energetic body level change.
- The suku is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a sprightly backward bend with an expressive run, a lively raised arm and a body level change.
- The rorec is one of the fundamental dance moves. First, there is a passionate counterclockwise eighth turn. Then there is an elaborate clockwise eighth half turn with independent body movement performed in succession by group members. Finally, there is a sprightly raised left arm performed in retrograde by group members with a large counterclockwise eighth quarter turn.
