The Fortuitous Lilac

The Fortuitous Lilac is a sacred solo dance originating in The Ruthlessness of Arenas. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Chant of Embraces. The dancer performs along a counterclockwise circle. This dance is a refined artform, with five special positions to be mastered. The sensual dance is punctuated by movement along the line of dance and sprightly backward bends.

• The dance begins with the theme of the music. The dancer performs slowly with the music. This energetic section is punctuated by proud hand gestures and flamboyant body level changes.
• The dance enters a new section with the exposition of the theme of the music. The dancer performs quickly with the music. This powerful weightless section is punctuated by low body level.
• The dance enters a new section with the recapitulation of the theme of the music. The dancer performs slower and slower with the music. This joyous section is punctuated by energetic footwork and expressive leaps.
• The smug is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a vivacious hand gesture.
• The tobog is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be an aborted left leg lift.
• The stran is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a high body level with a delicate left leg lift and a spirited forward bend.
• The sputo is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be an elaborate hand gesture with an energetic leftward bend, a soft raised arm and a low body level.
• The umung is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a spirited facial expression.
