The Paper of Monks
The Paper of Monks is a sacred group dance originating in The Kingdom of Faith. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by any composition of The Satiny Scholars as the dancers act out the story of the human deity Lum. The dancers perform in several lines, moving slower and slower with the music. This dance is a refined artform, with one special position and nine specific moves to be mastered. The dance is punctuated by flamboyant hand gestures performed in retrograde by group members.
- The aro the fundamental dance position. There should be a high body level with an expressive hand gesture.
- The stral is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is an elaborate left kick.
- The leto is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a crude clockwise eighth quarter turn.
- The renal is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a calm raised left arm.
- The hoth is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a soft leftward bend with a high body level.
- The omsuth is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a calm body level change with a counterclockwise eighth turn, sluggish independent body movement and a debauched facial expression.
- The birta is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a spin with an expressive leap, an undulating arm carriage and a refined facial expression performed in succession by group members.
- The ring is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a sensual body level change.
- The thora is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a joyous straight walk with a high forward bend and elaborate independent body movement.
- The sut is one of the fundamental dance moves. There is a high leftward bend with a calm spin, a joyous facial expression and sensual independent body movement.
