The Musical Song
The Musical Song is a social partner dance originating in The Responsible Empires. The form guides dancers during improvised performances. The dance is accompanied by The Pantomime of Larks. The dancers perform in a circle, moving very quickly with the music. The partners rarely make contact, communicating intent constantly through visual cues. The dance is punctuated by spirited independent body movement and aggressive facial expressions.
- The dance begins with the introduction of the music. The dancers perform to the oth rhythm. There is a basic movement called the omsuth. There is a series of two steps in a square pattern with a sinuous clockwise eighth half turn, a high body level and an energetic leftward bend. This powerful section is punctuated by the relaxed arm carriage of the follower.
