The Meandering Larks
The Meandering Larks is a solo performance dance originating in The Wild Seasons. The rules of the form are applied by choreographers to produce individual dances which can be performed. The dance is accompanied by The Play of Poetry. This dance is a refined artform, with four special positions to be mastered. The sharp-edged dance is punctuated by graceful leaps and flamboyant independent body movement.
- The mafina is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a high body level with a passionate facial expression and a strong raised right arm.
- The pama is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a right leg lift.
- The mathuva is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a strong hand gesture.
- The bulifo is one of the fundamental dance positions. There should be a low leg lift with a vigorous leftward bend, a high arm carriage and a high body level.
