The Embrace of Meadows

The Embrace of Meadows is a form of music used for entertainment originating in The Passionate Scourge. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. One to six speakers recite any composition of The Rights of Adventure while the music is played on a strambe. The musical voices are joined in melody. The entire performance is to be moderately soft. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in the stran rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to glide from note to note, use mordents, make trills, locally improvise and match notes and syllables.

• Each speaker always should be spirited.
• The strambe always does the main melody and should evoke tears.
• The Embrace of Meadows has a well-defined multi-passage structure: a theme and a series of variations on the theme, a bridge-passage and a finale.
• The theme is moderately paced. The strambe stays in the even high register.
• The series of variations is consistently slowing. The strambe ranges from the nasal middle register to the even high register.
• The bridge-passage is at a free tempo. The strambe covers its entire range from the raucous low register to the even high register.
• The finale gradually slows as it comes to an end. The strambe ranges from the raucous low register to the nasal middle register.
• The stran rhythm is made from two patterns: the zudol (considered the primary) and the ugas. The patterns are to be played over the same period of time, concluding together regardless of beat number.
• The zudol rhythm is a single line with thirty-two beats divided into five bars in a 8-5-7-6-6 pattern. The beat is stressed as follows:

• where ' marks a beat as late, x is a beat, - is silent and | indicates a bar.
• The ugas rhythm is a single line with four beats. The beats are named ustrok (spoken us), gosma (go), kabu (ka) and ron (ro). The beat is stressed as follows:
