The Satiny Lutes

The Satiny Lutes is a form of music used during marches and military engagements originally devised by the black bear man Raslost Glimmersounds. The form guides musicians during improvised performances. The music is played on a ipivi and two lethathi. The musical voices are joined in melody. The melody has mid-length phrases throughout the form. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, performers are to use grace notes.

• The ipivi always does the main melody, should feel tender, is to be very soft and plays legato. The voice uses its entire range from the ringing low register to the piercing high register.
• Each lethathi always does the main melody, should be strong and is to become louder and louder. The voice stays in the rippling low register.
• The Satiny Lutes has a simple structure: a lengthy passage.
• The simple passage is very fast.
