The Goldenrod Lutes
The Goldenrod Lutes is a devotional form of music originally devised by the human Rozmo Dyebit. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. A singer recites any composition of The Beige Visionary. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. The music repeats for as long as necessary. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to alternate tension and repose.
- The singer always does the main melody and should feel mournful.
- The Goldenrod Lutes has the following structure: a passage and a coda.
- The simple passage is very slow, and it is to be in whispered undertones. The singer's voice covers its entire range. The passage has mid-length phrases in the melody. The passage should be composed and performed using syllabic phrasing.
- The coda is very fast, and it is to fade into silence. The singer's voice stays in the middle register. The passage has short phrases in the melody. The passage should be composed and performed using syllabic phrasing.
