The Lyric of Music

The Lyric of Music is a form of music used for entertainment originally devised by the dwarf Nil Crevicebooks. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a imgoz. The entire performance is at a hurried pace. The melody has long phrases throughout the form. Chords, seldom-used, are sparse -- intervals and single pitches are favored. The music repeats for as long as necessary. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to alternate tension and repose.

• The verse is to be in whispered undertones. The imgoz ranges from the strident low register to the harsh middle register.
• The chorus is to be moderately loud. The imgoz stays in the heavy high register.
