The Creature of Flights
The Creature of Flights is a devotional form of music directed toward the worship of Futace Snakespray originally devised by the elf Tise Wavepartners. The rules of the form are applied by composers to produce individual pieces of music which can be performed. The music is played on a lunaba and a ali. The musical voices are joined in melody. Only one pitch is ever played at a time. It is performed without preference for a scale and in free rhythm. Throughout, when possible, composers and performers are to make trills and play staccato.
- The lunaba always does the main melody and should be passionate.
- The ali always does the main melody and should perform with feeling.
- The Creature of Flights has a well-defined multi-passage structure: an introduction, a lengthy passage and a finale.
- The introduction slows down and dies away as it draws to a close. The lunaba covers its entire range from the liquid low register to the gentle top register. The passage has mid-length phrases in the melody.
- The simple passage is extremely fast, and it is to become louder and louder. The lunaba ranges from the watery middle register to the rippling high register. The passage has phrases of varied length in the melody. The passage should be composed and performed using glides.
- The finale accelerates as it proceeds, and it is to be soft. The lunaba ranges from the liquid low register to the watery middle register. The passage has long phrases in the melody. The passage should be composed and performed using glides.
