The New Thimbles is a poetic form concerning family which grew out of the performances of The Earthen Armors. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into four tercets and another one tercet. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often share an underlying meaning, they are required to maintain phrasing and they sometimes have reversed word orders.
