The Creature of Waves

The Creature of Waves is a poetic riddle intended to teach a moral lesson concerning Sethe the Windy originally devised by the elf Ririli Leanlizards. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is two ten-line stanzas. Use of assonance is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines sometimes have reversed word orders. Each line has nine syllables. Every line of the poem has a medial caesura.
