The Book of Mirth
The Book of Mirth is a reflective poetic form concerning a historical figure originally devised by the elf Lesana Tailsecret. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: a line, three to four tercets and another two tercets. Each line has five syllables.
- The first part is intended to make an assertion.
- The second part is intended to make a counter-assertion. Certain lines have similar grammatical structures and use the same placement of allusions.
- The third part is intended to synthesize previous ideas. Certain lines have similar grammatical structures and use the same placement of allusions.
