The Twilight of Cacti is a ribald poetic form concerning Romimi Larkearthen which grew out of the performances of The Azure Notches. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single tercet. Use of simile is characteristic of the form. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often contrast underlying meaning, they are required to maintain phrasing and they sometimes have reversed word orders. The second line of the tercet must expand the idea of the first line. The first line has eight syllables. The second line has two syllables. The third line has eight syllables.
