The Intricacy of Eggs is a poetic narrative intended to satirize alcoholic beverages which grew out of the performances of The Heroic Waxes. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is two sexains. Use of juxtaposition is characteristic of the form. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines use the same placement of allusions and they sometimes have reversed word orders. Each line has three syllables.
