The Fatal Crypts is a dramatic poetic form intended to praise death originally devised by the elf Lene Snarlingreleased. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is a single couplet. Use of juxtaposition is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often contrast underlying meaning. Each line has seven syllables. The second line of the couplet uses the same placement of allusions as the first line. The second line of the couplet reverses the grammatical structure of the first line.
