The Mahogany Hoof is a poetic narrative concerning Aye the Furs of Heather which grew out of the performances of The Gleeful Silks. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is three sexains. Use of consonance and elision is characteristic of the form. The sixth line of each sexain is required to maintain the phrasing of the fourth line. The third line of each sexain presents a different view of the subject of the first line.
