The Lute of Styling
The Lute of Styling is a reflective poetic form originally devised by the elf Vicira Mauveclearing. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: a couplet, another couplet and another couplet. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines have similar grammatical structures and they sometimes have reversed word orders.
- The first part is intended to describe the past. Certain lines often share an underlying meaning. The second line of the couplet contrasts the underlying meaning of the first line. It has lines with ten syllables.
- The second part is intended to develop the previous idea concerning current events. Certain lines often share an underlying meaning and often contrast underlying meaning. It has lines with seven syllables.
- The third part is intended to reflect on previous ideas concerning the future. Certain lines often contrast underlying meaning. The second line of the couplet shares the underlying meaning of the first line. It has lines with seven syllables.
