The Influential Persuasion

The Influential Persuasion is a ribald poetic form concerning war which grew out of the performances of The Tattooed Growls. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into three distinct parts: two eleven-line stanzas, a tercet and a line. Use of vivid imagery is characteristic of the form. A form of parallelism is common throughout the poem, in that certain lines sometimes have reversed word orders. Each line has five syllables.
