The Saturnine String is a reflective poetic form concerning alcoholic beverages, originating in The Wayward Confederacy. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into four quatrains and a line. Forms of parallelism are common throughout the poem, in that certain lines often contrast underlying meaning, they are required to maintain phrasing and they have similar grammatical structures.
