The Profane Cysts is a reflective poetic form concerning depravity, originating in The Amusing Nations. The rules of the form are applied by poets to produce individual poems which can be recited. The poem is divided into nine quatrains and a series of sexains. The Profane Cysts is always written from the perspective of a fictional poet. Use of simile is characteristic of the form. Each line has three feet with a tone pattern of even-even-uneven.
